The Birth Buzz: May 2024

Hello there

This month I've got some homework for you (stay with me, promise it's the good kind)

If you're pregnant, I want you to do this;

  • Ask your partner or support person what they would do if you went into labour tonight?

Get them to write them down

Do they have at least 10?

The thing is, while I see women 'doing the work' researching and booking into birth classes, reading, listening to podcasts, you're the one that's going to be IN labour...

The knowledge and preparation you do is SO powerful & important, BUT it's your partner or those around you, who are going to be holding you and the space around you while you do it.

Your partners mindset, their understanding of the process (or not) and HOW to support you is crucial.

  • When you're saying "I cant do this anymore" or "It's too hard" - what are they going to do to get you through the challenging moments?

  • When you're being offered something in labour, that maybe you didn't want - what are they going to do?

It's a BIG job supporting & showing up for the person you love while they move through the intensity of labour, and it's going to be a whole lot harder if they haven't 'done the work' themselves.

You need a calm, steady anchor, who is confident in both the process and in YOU.

So back to the list, what is missing? What conversations do you need to have before your labour begins & what you want and need from them?

If you & your partner aren't sure where to start, my fully online course takes you through all you need to know, the nitty gritty conversations you need to have & the practical and mindset shifts that need to take place.

Because I want you both to feel confident & capable going into your birth.

Best wishes for a supportive birth team,

Lauretta x

P.S If you've done all the work and just want something to send to your partner?
